Netflix’s A Time Called You blended romance, time travel, and drama to leave fans eagerly waiting for a second season. While there has been no formal renewal, we are free to speculate based on what data we have.
The South Korean Netflix Original, A Time Called You is an adaptation of the Taiwanese drama Someday or One Day. The Kim Jon Won directorial series features an ensemble cast including Ahn Hyo Seop, Jeon Yeo Been, and Kang Hoon.
As of September 11, 2023, the official Netflix renewal status for A Time Called You Season 2 is still pending.
It’s not surprising that Netflix hasn’t announced a renewal yet, and it also doesn’t mean that there won’t be one since the series has been available for a short period of time. Netflix will do its usual math to determine whether the show deserves a follow up season.

Does the series require a sequel? Well, The conclusion of the first season leaves viewers with mixed feelings about the need for a second season. The series ended with great possibility for a new love story and new complications whereas the complexities of the first season were resolved quite satisfactorily.
The concept of time-travel always leaves room for innovation. And even though the narrative threads were neatly tied in the first season, a new season could not hurt. There are always some more ideas to explore. For instance, a movie adaptation of Someday or One Day was released in 2022, introducing a brand-new time loop. While it was not a sequel per se, it does prove that the time-travel narrative has always more angles to offer.
The series hits a combination of target audiences with its romance meets sci-fi approach. If the first season makes an impact on the global audience, Netflix will surely give a renewal a good amount of thought.
