College Football Bets: Picks Against Spread for Top-25 Week 10 Games

This could be a transformational weekend of college football as the season hurtles toward the finish line.

There are six games between teams ranked in the AP Top 25, which matches the most since Week 4. And considering how often highly ranked teams have lost this season, there are many more games to monitor for upsets.

ESPN’s “College GameDay” had an easy decision to go to South Bend, Indiana, for the much-anticipated rematch between top-ranked Miami and No. 4 Notre Dame. The Hurricanes won last season’s meeting in South Florida and ended up edging out the Fighting Irish for the final at-large College Football Playoff spot. Given Notre Dame’s suspect strength of schedule, this game is almost a must-win if it is to avoid a repeat of last season’s snub.

The other option for “GameDay” was the Holy War between No. 7 BYU and No. 3 Utah. This is one of the sport’s premier rivalries, and it also features an undefeated team (the Utes) and the one team to take down Notre Dame so far this season (the Cougars). However, it’s not surprising that Salt Lake City did not get a return visit considering one member of the crew’s stated distaste for the last trip to Utah’s campus.

Alabama-LSU is always a battle, and the stakes for this meeting are particularly high with the No. 9 Crimson Tide and No. 15 Tigers in position to knock each other out of CFP contention. ‘Bama has lost two of its last three while LSU seems to have found its groove.

It’s a huge week in the SEC as No. 10 Texas also travels to No. 19 Missouri. The Longhorns got back on track last week after back-to-back losses, but the Tigers have been tough to beat at home. Staying down South, No. 8 Kentucky hits the road to play No. 16 Tennessee. The Wildcats have been one of the biggest surprises in the sport this season. However, night games at Neyland Stadium are rarely fun for the visiting team.

No. 2 Georgia will try to put its struggles against No. 12 Ole Miss behind it in a playoff rematch. The Rebels have beaten the Bulldogs in back-to-back seasons, including in the 2025 CFP quarterfinals.

    • College Football Playoff Rankings Reaction: What the Committee Got Wrong

Over in the Big Ten, No. 5 UCLA puts its undefeated record on the line against Minnesota. And Oregon will try to play spoiler against No. 11 Ohio State, which is in danger of losing a third game in a single season for the first time in more than a decade. On Friday night, No. 22 New Mexico will play its first game as a top-25 team in program history against Nevada. The Lobos have to win to stay in the mix for the Group of 6 playoff spot.

Athlon Sports has picks against the spread for all of those games and every other top-25 game on the schedule this week. My colleagues Steven Lassan, Tyler Schuster and I are working our way back to a winning record after a disastrous October. It’s time to right the ship. Without further ado, here are our picks:

Week 10 College Football Best Bets

Steven Lassan: No. 21 Iowa at Northwestern — Iowa +2.5
This is a tough week to find a best bet on the board. I like South Carolina as one of my top bets this week, but with both of my colleagues taking the Gamecocks, let’s spread the wealth and pick Iowa. Northwestern quarterback Aidan Chiles was listed as questionable on the first injury report on Wednesday night, so there could be some value on the Hawkeyes early here if he’s unable to go. The Wildcats rank second in the Big Ten in rushing offense, but coordinator Chip Kelly’s prolific ground game will face plenty of resistance against an Iowa defense ranked second in the conference at stopping the run. Iowa has won four in a row in this series, and I think coach Kirk Ferentz’s team finds a way to win this one outright.

Kyle Wood: Texas A&M vs. No. 23 South Carolina — South Carolina -7
The Aggies have lost all but one of their SEC games by 10-plus points. The lone exception was their win over lowly Arkansas. The Gamecocks, on the other hand, are playing their best ball since 2024. They are tough to beat at Williams-Brice Stadium, and Texas A&M is winless this season on the road. The gap in quarterback play between LaNorris Sellers and Marcel Reed should keep South Carolina rolling. Remember, these teams have played some memorable games in recent years. The Gamecocks stormed the field in 2024 and Texas A&M pulled off a 27-point comeback last fall. Shane Beamer and Co. haven’t forgotten that collapse and will want to win this one convincingly.

Tyler Schuster: Texas A&M vs. No. 23 South Carolina — South Carolina -7
A month ago, South Carolina looked like a dead team walking. Shane Beamer was flirting with getting fired. Dylan Stewart was serving a suspension. The Gamecocks looked like a lost team, with little to play for. But over the past few weeks, something flipped. Quarterback LaNorris Sellers has been excellent, and out of nowhere, South Carolina is one of the hottest teams in college football. I like the Gamecocks to keep the good vibes going against a Texas A&M team headed toward lost season territory.

    PakarPBN

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.

In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.

The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
