Ohio State in two-team race for potential million-dollar running back

The Ohio State Buckeyes have already welcomed Class of 2027 running back David Gabriel-Georges for three unofficial visits. He is scheduled to return to Columbus on May 29 for an official visit with the program.

The 5-foot-11, 200-pound point guard is a five-star recruit, the No. 2 running back and No. 13 player in the country, according to Rivals Industry Rankings. A native of Chattanooga, Tennessee, he has attracted interest from some of college football’s top teams.

However, his talents won’t come cheap. On Friday, Pete Nakos of On3 reported that the Buckeyes and Tennessee Volunteers are considered the two teams still defending Gabriel-Georges, who could land a contract worth $1 million.

“Georges’ recruitment has turned into a race between Ohio State and Tennessee, and sources said a seven-figure package is not out of the question,” Nakos wrote. “The prize for the best offensive players remains very appreciated.”

Last season for Baylor School, the running back was named the MaxPreps National Player of the Year. He showed impressive production, totaling 1,756 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Seen as a player likely to make an immediate impact, the Buckeyes have the resources to field a competitive NIL offer. According to 247Sports, Ohio State had the second-largest collective NIL fund in college football ($20.2 million) during the 2025 season.

Ohio State has already assembled a 2027 recruiting class that ranks fifth in the nation with 11 commitments. The arrival of Gabriel-Georges would be a major addition to this group. However, the Buckeyes may need to put together a NIL package as high as $1 million to beat the Volunteers.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.

In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.

The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
